IELTS or The International English Language Testing System is a very popular English language proficiency examination that is essential over overseas education, migration or work. Every year millions of students and aspirants take this test. IELTS is a recognized test from all over the world. IELTS can be either given in a pen and paper format or on computer. It depends on your choice. Besides that, you need to choose the test module according to your purpose. If you want to go overseas to study then choose IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training.  

 Test Format

 IELTS is a test which is designed to check your ability for four language skills in English. The skills are Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. You can take Writing, Reading and Listening tests simultaneously on a single without any break. For the Speaking test, you need to book a time slot as per your convenience. If you fail to choose a time slot in a given time, the system will allow you a date and time automatically. If you need guidance in this matter, you may attain a workshop in any IELTS coaching center.

 The test takes a total of three hours. It has four different sections-

·         IELTS Listening test

This test is of 30 minutes. You will be made to hear a recording of a native English speaker. Then you will have to answer questions based on the voice clip.

·         IELTS Speaking Test

This test is of 10 to 15 minutes. This test is to understand your English speaking ability. It is recorded and is conducted in three sections. You may take special IELTS coaching for this test.

·         IELTS Reading Test

It is designed to asses your reading ability. It is for one hour. Here you need to answer 40 questions. You have to read the main ideas, gist, and logical arguments and skimming off a certain piece. YOU must be able to understand the writer's thinking, opinions, and his or her intentions to pass this test.

·         IELTS writing Test

Here you will be given two writing tasks on the topics of general interest as per your preference.

  Why appear in this test?

·         If you want to work or study overseas you need to pass IELTS. The eminent universities and companies want people who can speak in English fluently. Universities and companies and other sectors like hospitals, public sectors, banking sector, teaching sectors, etc accept IELTS score as a proof of English language proficiency.

·         Often IELTS is a must test for migration in many English speaking countries like the United Kingdom or United StETS OF America etc. They allow citizenship to the people who can easily speak or write or read English.

·         IELTS makes you aware of your practical knowledge of English. You may know the grammar well but that does not mean that you can speak well. With IELTS you will be able to understand the depth of your English knowledge.

Therefore. IELTS is a test in which your practical English language skills are judged. Many foreign universities and employment sectors require IELTS score.
